This is my favorite of the three, YB. The DOF works really well here, as does the contrast between the dark body of the snail against the soft pink of the flower.

As many have said, all three are great shots YB, but this is my favorite. I like the sharpness of the snail against the softness of the flower. The color contrasts are very nice too and make the snail stand out against the light pink and the pink flower stand out from the dark background. I wish I could see the little buggers "face" but they don't take direction very well do they! :-D CJ

All are great photos, YB. Had a hard time choosing a favorite, but I think I'll go with this one. Well done, mate.

Thanks everybody for taking time to post your comments. I took the shot on Saturday morning. It had been raining overnight and I took my G9 out into the garden to photograph the raindrops on the leaves. I saw this snail and took a couple of shots, but it was on a plant too low down for me to take a head on shot. So I placed it on another flower, (don't ask me what species, I only recognise them as either "flowers" or "weeds"). I took the shot then returned it to the original plant.I can't understand why gardeners kill snails - the more they eat the less weeding I have to do, leaving me more time for photography.

My favorite of the three. Like others have said, it's the head popping out of the DOF that makes it work. -Doug

This one works the best for me. Nice contrast and minimal burnout. I'm trying to guess how long you were following that creature around but there's no EXIF. Did you have a good long day YB?
PS. to K, what's a high pass filter in photography. I thought it was a capaciter you put on a tweeter to filter out bass frequencies. -tv

I think YB does not PP at all> While the snail has come out well, the background is a bit disturbing - Debi

Nice gentle colors. May be the head need a bit more sharpness ? You can try with High Pass filter - should be good here.

Yes this does work well with its head coming out of the DOF. I think I might try & get three different picys of one subject next cos the three click rule is giving me heart palpitations:-)
