Thanks for the confirmation. It's exasperating to pay for the D700 at only 95% when for far less the D300 provides near 100%. The missing 5% makes precise framing impossible. -tv

Thanks, Tom. According to the manual, the viewfinder of the D300 shows "approximately 100 %". I have made a few quick test shots after reading your comment. On my camera, there are not more than 10 extra pixels on every edge which were not visible in the viewfinder. I have no tripod and ruler at hand for a more exact test but I think this would not be necessary because in everyday use, you can consider this viewfinder as 100 %. Btw this image is slightly cropped.

I have a D200 but it is only a 95% veiwfinder. Even the D700 is only 95% but I read that the D300 is 99%, maybe 100%. What is your experience? I'm seeing these backwards, but this is another good one with a well judged use of your fisheye. -tv
