To fully appreciate the hidden beauty in me images getting half cut is mandatory. Thanks mate:-)

Taking a second look after a couple of bourbons. Much better cause I've completely forgotton whatever I think I saw before. This one dances with the main sail setting the pace echoed by the others. Vigorous vectors with changes in direction and velocity do the visual work. Quite pleasing to become involved with. -tv

Oh NOOooooooo:-)

I preferred the sky the way it was - maybe it looked like a gradient but at least it was the same blue. Penny Street

Thanks Tommy:-) I seem to be going from bad to worse with this picy. I think it might not be a goer a.

This is good Rod but I think I prefer the bw of yore. Or did I dream it? At my age I never know and don't care enough to distinguish between facts and fantasy. After all politicians and financiers much younger than I seem to have the same problem and function quite well, even prosper, in spite of it. -tv

I've redone the picy & kept the sky as natural as possible.
ctfchallenge02-May-2009 01:31
Thanks Debi & Doug:-) There was a natural gradient from dark top to lighter bottom in the straight from camerea picy which has been made worse by PP. I will redo the picy from the Raw file & see if I can keep a more natural look by artificial means:-) I wonder if these gradients in the sky stem from the sun being high in the sky as I've seen this before in some of my picys but haven't took any notice of why it happens. The picy below was shot from a 90deg angle from this picy & the sky looks more even.

Nicely done Rod. I never would have guessed this to be a parking lot. Looks like a day at the beach. -Doug

I remember these from another challenge - part there of? - Lovely perspective but the darker blue at top distracts - Debi

Thanks Konstantin & Brent:-) I've lightened the sky with the dodge tool but I will have to start from the high res picy as it looks a bit dodgy a. Yes I think I can get away with the bright bits......hopefully:-)

Wonderful image Rod and I think the highlights are under control of not just right. All the great shapes and lines as well as the texture of the canvas are what make this special. Very well seen and taken mate.

I think this is so far the best you posted in this gallery, Rod. May be the peace of sky in the right up corner is a bit too contrasty and looks separated from other pieces of sky. May be a bit more gradient would make it better. (may be ot). Anyway - this is an excellent picture !

Thanks again Penny & Aamm:-) I've made the picy darker, is it enough Penny? Yes Aamm they're almost blown but I thought they would be OK as highlights & not a distraction. I really should have got here earlier or later in the day as around 12 oclock mid day is not a good time for picys a.

There are some BHs though, mate...wink wink :) OK, technically they are not because you tried your best to control the back shades. But still :)

funny how different my "real" monitor at home makes these look.(and I might add that the crummy monitor at work made the whole picture darker and I kind of liked it).

Thanks Suey & Penny:-) These are to keep the hot sun off the cars while people do their shopping.......or taking picys:-)

What lovely lines and magnificent sky colors you have here. I tried to do something with "underneath the many umbrellas at bryant park" but my subjects were dark and roundish. These are much more interesting and you got a terrific perspective/composition as well !! Love it.

Interesting. What are sun shades? Nice lines and curves.
