Thanks Doug - I am trying to find something midway- LR seems to be a very useful software for someone like me. Not got the eye for the right look so the pre-sets available on-line help me decide what to go for. Cant afford the $ 400 prices though. I am running the trial version. May be I will just format my PC :) - Debi

It has a heavily processed look that works well in this picture. Uncharacteristic for you so it's good to see you stretching outside your comfort zone. -Doug

There are many "manys" here bebi and the composition and angle of the shot are good but the pp has a LucisArts look to it which does give an unreal look to the whole image. Personally, I'm drawn to just the brick road with the white lines painted on it and if you get a chance, a close up of just those elements might look good. CJ

You and Rod are ready for the next pavement stones challenge. Nice work. What works (better than Rod's) are the many manys here - windows, "lines", bricks, pavement stones, poles, even black & yellow markings. Although I'm no usually in favor of digital processing when it makes it seem "artificial", there sre certain painterly effects that I find hard to resist when it saves a dull image. Still I wonder what the original looked like. -tv

It looks better but still a bit artificial (at least on my monitor - too heavy shadows/highlights ?). I think I would crop a bit from bottom to get the white line coming from the left corner.

Picture changed. I used the dodge brush in LR. Find it easier than PS. Just use a brush to lighten the areas which need to be retouched. There is a dodge brush preset available too - Debi

Very well seen and taken Debi! You know by the look of it I'm wondering if you used some sort of filter or shadow/highlight adjustment just a little too heavy to take out some of the contrast in those great lines Rod mentions. If not, what Rod suggests to make this even better than it already is might be helpful. Seems just a tiny bit soft where sharpening might help and I would consider losing that tiny piece of a line in the lower border. Still a great picy as it is right now :-)

The composition of the lines taking us into the picy is really good but the picy seems to have a colour cast, sort of light purplish pink. Do you know how to dodge & burn in Photoshop Debi? I think if you dodged (lighten) the lines a lot lot more the lines would really whack in as the main feature of the picy. You could try using contrast to do it but it might bugger up the top of the picy unless you can select the bottom & just bump up the contrast there.
