I just KNEW this was your image even before I opened up the full image.... it's that "look" you've been experimenting with since your Norman Rockwell kid in the kitchen photo ;)
I like the look of this one as well.. and you really should start writing down what you are doing one of these days. lol Markjay

I agree with Brent for the border. A simple selective colouring layer would fix it :) ~Christakis

This is a fun image Lonnit, the processing works well for the content. I'm not too crazy about that border against this dark background though. It seems you would be better off if you just spent a few minutes making it more CTF friendly rather than request that people follow a link that won't end up in the vote booth anyway?
~Brent

Lonit, I like how you used the edges. This brings back memories. ~Christakis

Very cool, Lonnit.

Rod, I used to crave attention too, but I got over it! LOL!

Doug, envelopes were meant to be pushed! ;) It's the only way to find the boundaries!!! ~ Lonnit

Nicely done. You can start almost anywhere in the picture and still end up working your way around the frame. You know I'm normally a fan of your art work but in this case I might have dropped that opacity slider just a few degrees more. Even when viewed on a white background it's hard not to see the evenly softened edges as anything but a border. You naughty rule breaker you. -Doug

Silly billy I clicked on the linky days ago that's why I explained the border to David. Of course the skin tone is only hot but you know me........... I crave attention:-)

Oh Roddy Roddy - those first pics I took, 4.5 yrs ago, yes indeed had frames about them to help disguise my lack of photographic ability. I've stated that in the past. Old news. I'd just started in photography and didn't know an f-stop from a bus-stop! I had to compensate with fancy frames! LOL! And, my skintones ain't blown, they are creatively and artistically HOT! If you'd care to see the raw image, you'll find the skin tones aren't even hot, barely warm. I threw everything to the limits, intentionally in post. And, it still ain't my fault that we have this artificial gray background here. You're more than welcome to click on the link and see the image as it is intended on a white background. Once there, you will clearly see the image has no border. :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit is a lost cause David although she has improved over the years. She used to show all her picys with terrible frames & even had her signature on. She has got out of this immature habit but in this instance she thinks it needs a white background to counteract the blown whites in the skin tones:-) We've had lots of great controversies in the past over these matters & they were a lot more heated than is happening under your picys. So don't feel victimised David.

I remembered a day too late about the gathering! Time has just flown and I didn't realize the date. I was thinking it was next weekend. I hope you all had a good time! ~ Lonnit

Very nicely composed shot and I like the subtle tones too. I'm wondering that noone is complaining about the "exra border", is it a problem only if I do it? Cheers, DaB

I didn't get it all, but I guess I like OTT. Penny Street

Ahh, Rod, thanks for translating that to english for me! LOL!

Oh, I forgot to comment on the "illuminating experience". Actually, yes! I saw him reading the paper and noticed how the light was reflected into his face. I had jus t heard a photog speaking recently and he said, in reference to a lighting discussion, that if you've got nothing else, even a sheet of newspaper will work as a reflector. He's surely right! Look how beautifully the light is reflected into his face and the underside of his elevated forearm and palm!!! ~ Lonnit

OTT is hip internet speak for Over the top:-)

Thank you all! TV, I don't know what you mean by "ott processing". Was that a typo or am I showing some ignorance?

The processing was done by ramping up the colors in the Nik "daylight" filter, then I used a PS filter, one of the brush filters, but I don't recall which one. I then changed the mode to overlay and reduced the opacity until I was happy with it. I then had to adjust levels a bit to undarken some of the darkening caused by overlay. I also had to reduce saturation a tad. ~ Lonnit

In spite of the ott processing, this works in a subtle fashion for the topic Lonnit and glad to see you are paying attention. The left shoulder makes just the right "touch" with the frame to work without contrivance. Comp is also clever in circumscribing the center. Did you deliberately set up lighting to show how reading the newspaper can be an "illuminating" experience? hehe. Good visual pun and lots of points are awarded herewith. -tv

Very nice photo. I like the composition as well as the post processing. Main element in upper right, and his left arm draws me down to the bottom edge.

Nice comp and I like the PP here (?bleach filter?). - Well done Lonnit! - angioman
