I think it might be more in the darker areas of the dress showing a sort of blueish tint. Mind you shadows do tend towards blue in colour film. My monitor is not calibrated, I've just played with it to look close to my prints so you're better off staying with what you see on your calibrated monitors.
The picy looks fine as it is, we just pick things to talk about until the next challenge:-)

Thanks everybody for friendly comments !

Rod, I do have a sRGB in my camera, (but will reset it to Adobe RGB, will do the same as you) and the both monitors - iMac at home and PC in office - do have the same color schema (calibrated using same device). The gamma on my iMac is also set to 2.2.
Open saying, I don't worry so much about different appearance. It’s different, I know about this but don’t take care.
What about this particular picture - the colors are (-1, -1 in LAB) - so it is practically white.

Maybe I just told DPP to use sRGB which makes sense a. I don't know much about all this but there were some discussions a fair while ago about picys with off colours being posted & the consensus was the Adobe RGB colour space was the problem for the web & to change it to sRGB for showing on the net & lower res monitors. I shoot in sRGB but I think I will set the camera to use Adobe RGB for the printing & just convert my web picys to sRGB. Or seeing as I shoot Raw just tell DDP to convert in Adobe RGB.

Very nice image Konstantin, works really well for the topic and the color looks quite nice rendered by my Mac on an Apple Cinema display. I expect you shoot RAW so what you set your camera color space to won't matter. One thing about Macs VS PCs is the default gamma value for a Mac is 1.8 and for a PC it is 2.2. Most experts recommend using 2.2 gamma on Macs for best universal color. It seems you should be able to get similar color on your iMac to that of a calibrated PC. The iMac does have a glossy screen though which makes images appear a little more vibrant and contrasty than a matte screen would- but that doesn't sound like the issue you are having.

Yes the beer really is a big in a discussion, we don't get anywhere but it's far more enjoyable:-)
It's more about the colour space you have your camera set on, if it's on Adobe RGB & you want it to look best on a PC monitor then you can assign a sRGB colours space to it in Photoshop for displaying on PCs & web use. Adobe RGB is a bit better for making prints, it has a wider colour gamut which you already know I think.

Lovely moment and well captured Konstantin. There is a bit of a blue color cast on my screen and using the color correction tool in my PS Elements program, it warmed up the skin tones a little too. Very nice image regardless! :-) CJ

Rod,
since I calibrated the both monitors they have the same color schema - "spyder2express" :-)
Do you know what are we missing in our discussion ? ...

The BEER !

I tell you as a civilized man!

Indeed it is Aamm but Konstantin has the problem of seeing warm on his Mac & cool on his PC. The colour space might be very relevant to him & we are in the process of discussing it like two civilised people. So now we have two civilised people & you here:-)

Forget color space, mate. This is a beautiful photo, wouldn't you think?
Rod 20-Mar-2009 07:21
What colour space do you post your picys with Konstantin? I've heard that Apple screens can display Adobe RGB but PC screens only do sRGB.

Doug, Penny, Rod, tv - thank you for your comments.

Rod, yes it could be a bit too cold. I see pictures differently on my home iMac, usually warmer then on PCs. I always have to go through two steps - download picture at home, check on the next day on PC and do later correctness's if necessary. Usually I "cold down" pictures first while in most case they are too warm on PC.
PP was very subtle here - cropping, slightly vignetting to bring more accent to the hand and dodging and burning on the hand and girl's veil with the same purpose. And reduced red a bit.

I do regularly monitor calibration at home and in office but this does not help. Photos look differently. May be because of iMac's HD screen?

Konstantin.

Works well. A proud parent's hand comfortably positioned for the topic. -tv
Rod 20-Mar-2009 00:09
Nicely done Konstantin, the picy seems to lack a sense of warmth is it the PP as it seems a bit stark. Maybe it's the contrast levels on the hand. Anyhow it works well for the challenge a.

No question that this is on topic. And it's a sweet idea - kind of tells a story.
