This is perfect, Rod. Simple and very creative composition. To make it incredible perfect I would straighten it a bit. The line between yellow and blue is slightly upper on the left site. Or may be this irregularity is what makes this shot so wonderful ?
Like this shot a lot. It is not just a photo - it is piece of art.

Thanks Carole & Brent:-) I can only print to A4 so that will have to do, anyhow our walls are chockers wiv stuff I I have trouble fitting in an A4:-) I agree Brent I can't imagine this any other way but no doubt some talented bugger could prove us wrong:-)

What makes this smack dab work very well is a compelling detail is smack dab yet the vibrant colors aren't. This seems exactly how you would have shot this even without the topic in mind. Nice job of capturing the texture too mate. I like it :-)

Terrific minimalistic image with wonderful vibrant colors Rod! Most images would look better off center but not this one. I definitely think you should print this one up big and hang it on your wall! :-) CJ

You're a connoisseur of all things great mate, thanks:-)

You just took a "great shot" mate....this one.
Rod 20-Mar-2009 22:14
Thanks David & you raise a good point. With this particular shot I think it works best as is & not off centre but we all have a way of seeing that gives us different results. One of the biggest problems with learning photography from other people on the internet or camera clubs is they tend to make the so called rules of photography a given, to be always followed. Yet our photography will never be free & as creative by thinking about rules when composing a scene. We should compose in the camera to how we want the scene to look which could be breaking every rule in the book, when we do this then the great picys may come. Mind you I'm completely free when I compose a picy except for having the topic in mind & I still haven't got a great shot but the journey to great shot is really enjoyable a:-)

This is a very difficult topic because many picture would be better off-center IMHO. DaB

Agree with Tom. If it were my pic I will definitely print it. Love it.
Rod 20-Mar-2009 01:49
Thanks Aamm & Tommy:-) Glad to see you back Aamm mate.

I can see this blown up to wall size like a painting of the '60s. The ambiguous scale lets it go the other way too. Great color and lack thereof somehow full of meaning especially with the stain. Anyway good find. -tv

Beautiful. Well done, mate.
Rod 19-Mar-2009 00:45
Thanks Y:-) Us blokes like a bit of tension in our picys , don't forget perfect is normally boring. That's why we learn the rules of photography just to teach us to get an eye for picys, once we have that, the rules should be completely forgotten to get memorable picys.
So thanks for pointing that out Y & you can now bugger off:-)
