Thanks everyone for commenting. More of an experiment as I was shooting away while Amber was playing PS3. Just experimenting with focal length, xp with using high ISO to obtain max shutterspeed while hand held, and using the natural light available to obtain a good portrait. jano
Lovely portrait of Amber Jano - I knew you'd like that macro lens for portraits and with the shallow DOF, it nicely blurs and softens everything except the focal plane of the eyes. The exposure seems a bit bright to me, but it could be my LCD monitor. Very nice portrait. CJ
Jano, this shows a control that I am enjoying as a mixture of classic portraiture and modern sensibility. "Classic" is the focus on the right eye and "modern is the inclusion of both eyes in focus. Also "modern" is the contrast which is more aggressive than "classic" delicate tones but has "modern" impact. Quite a satisfying result and I haven't even tried to express the emotional impact of such a successful portrait. (Time's up.) -tv
A portrait with a macro lens. What a great idea!!! This is lovely, Jano.

Forgot to mention how the face tone reminds me of white marble, lovely.

I'm really glad you didn't use the sharpness this lens is capable of for this portrait as it works just perfect for me. If you focused on her hair to get that sharp & not her face using the wide open aperture then I bow to your terrific photography. If you didn't then I hope you have learnt how terrific doing this is for portraits. Geez Amber is a great natural for picys a. Great looking picy Jano.
