tv, they were only seconds apart, I missed some good ones , when I saw action I would set everything in one direction and then a volley of lightning would appear in another direction, bit like chasing shadows.
It used to be so much simpler with a box camera and two settings: "instantaneous" (about 1/125 sec) and "bulb" (shutter open as long as the button is depressed). Were the two flashes in quick sequence? -tv

cj, the storm was violent, and where I live you can see them sweeping in over the city and the farms.
It was a matter of placing the 20D on a tripod, using a 10 second delay, 2 seconds would do if you have it just to stop my big hand from shaking the long exposure when I press the shutter release, which is about 10 to 20 seconds.
I just muck around with 100 shots or so, pointing over the town then across the farms to the hills beyond.Generally focused to infinity ,use around f/11 and just keep playing with it till the amount of light coming in looks right.
Just point to where ever the stikes look more active and take a few, then I drag the photo into photoshop, sharpen, increase the blacks a little with Power Retouche, crop, muck around a little with levels and then save as a copy.
