Thanks Carole:-) I don't know why the little bugger came out so light, the original I posted was even lighter than this one. I thought I liked the light version to make him catch the eye but darkening him did look better. I think the pasted look might be exaggerated by only the front of his face being in the frame.................Or just bad photography:-)

I really like the image and the composition of this Rod but it looks almost as if the little boy's picy was pasted into the photo because of the big difference in tones. what was happening here with the exposure? CJ

I m happy you like the changes I did - I darkened the whole picture with curves, then inverted the mask and exposed back the darkness on boy's hair, eyes and lips using the brush tool. Similar process on Joan's face - blurred the whole picture (gaussian blur), inverted, and exposed the softness back on her face. Magnify it first to work precisely - the lips, eyes , eyebrows should persist sharp.

You did a great job on it Konstantin, nice & subtle I think Jean would love it. You got the boy looking better than I could manage I just used the burn in tool. What method did you use to darken the boy? I think I might leave Jeans face as is here for some added manly type grit that I like even though I normally post pretty gritless picys for the girls to get their votes:-) Thanks for working on the Picy Konstantin as it's always interesting to see what others can come up with.

Rod, I allowed myself to download your picture and to do some subtle processing. I darken a bit the boy’s hair, eyes and lips, and soften a bit Jean face - just to show what I mentioned. I posted the picture in Pending - what do you think about ?

I think you two were correct as the darkening seems to keep the kid in the picy a. I thought he may blend in too much. Thanks mates.

I agree the boy could use some work especially darkening to match the tones of the rest of the image. -tv

Thanks Konstantin:-) Jean is the boys grandmother so I wouldn't want her to look too preserved:-) I'm not sure how the boys face will go if I darken it as it may blend in too much with Jeans darker look. I think the lightness keeps him as an important element in the picy. I will have a darken & see how it looks.

this is a wonderful picture. The mother's glance at her son is excellent. I also love the B&W processing.
The only things (PP) I may be would do are
1. darken a bit the boy's face
2. do a "make up" for Lady - "soften" a bit Lady's skin etc ... (She will be greatly thankful you for that ... )

Powerful capture of pointedly directed mother-son family focus and modernistic composition. Wow! (PS. Wow again.) The boy has such dignity, even nobility against the onslaught of maternal concern. Rod this is a memorable and rare one. -tv
