Me like.

The kids always take the best stuff when they leave, even if they don't we give it to em anyway:-)
I would think the machines will be a lot cheaper in the States Carole. Yes D it does look well built but it can make some funny noises, some quite loud. It seems normal for this machine because we took the first one back as it had a part missing & the two sounded much the same.

Thanks for the info Rod. I used to have a Krups machine but my daughter took it to college and I haven't seen it since. I haven't seen the Sunbeam model here in the US so they may brand it differently here. I'll have to see if hubby is willing to spring for a $450 machine! :-D CJ

Rod, this machine looks very nice. When you first posted the picture I thought it was taken in a restaurant since it looks like commercial quality.~dtallakson

I'm getting to like this machine but when I got just before Xmas I was a little disappointed as it seemed to look better than it worked. Years ago I had a Krups machine in the $400+ range, it was very good on quality but after a year or so it started to get leaks & the steamer stopped working. Since then I've just bought machines in the under $200 range which have worked fine but didn't feel quality to use. This machine is from a company called Sunbeam which makes all sorts of kitchen electricals & cost $450. It sort of feels like cheap good quality in use, the coffee basket & handle is nice & heavy but the machine is fairly noisy. I couldn't find much choice in the mid range machines & to spend more money only seems to buy bells & whistles like built in coffee grinders & milk storage which will automatically froth the milk. Having these things in the machine I imagine would make it a nightmare to clean. As long as the machine has a 15 bar pump then it should be OK. I use the machine every day so would get my use out of a more expensive machine but if it's only for occasional use there's no real need to spend too much. We did look at a Krups machine for the same price as this one & it was all cheap plastic looking with a cheap basket & handle. You can halve the prices I have quoted as electrical stuff in the States is about half the price we pay. Have a look in the shops & see what you like then you can always ask me about something you want to know about it............That's if I know the answer:-)

Rod, how do you like your espresso machine? I've been thinking of getting one but don't know which one and how much money I need to spend to get a good one. CJ

Thanks Doug & Aamm:-)

Excellent lighting, mate.

Now we're talking. Drop the soy yogurt and grab a scoop of the real stuff. -Doug

Thanks everyone:-) I don't think I could drink another one of these for at least 8 hrs or so:-) The long lens works a lot better for this picy & cleaning the coffee machine this time saved a lot of cloning, Mereana was amazed when she saw me cleaning the thing:-) Mmmmm cup handle on the left might look better a:-) Thanks again all:-)

How in the world do you keep this so shiny? Wonderful spotless image :) jano

This looks very delicious - of course Bryers has 'coffee ice cream' flavor :)

I dunno... I think you should try again. :) And again. :) ~Lydia

Such sacrifices eating all those retakes for the sake of your art. Missed the first one but this looks good. -tv
Jim B (MSP)19-Jan-2009 02:31
Now you got just right. Very good retake. Great composition and execution.
And I hope it tasted as well as the first.
I suppose I could help you out (?) and say you should shoot it again with the cup handle on the left (LOL). Though maybe you should wait for us to join you and help with the set up and tear down.

I liked the original, too, but this one is very good. How many were you forced to eat? ;^) ~dtallakson

This looks gooooooooooood! Good lighting, reflections, composition and a delicious looking cup of whatever you call this concoction! :-) CJ
ctfchallenge18-Jan-2009 18:18
Oops...quite NICE is what I meant to say.

I didn't see the original, Rod, but this one is quite. I was impressed with how you managed to avoid including your reflection, but then I read the comments and saw that you had a bit of help there. I hope you got to eat it after all that work.

You're SO accomodating, Rod. ~Lydia
Rod 17-Jan-2009 20:46
Thanks Lydia, Jim & Christakis:-) OK, OK a reshoot it is, yum:-) After seeing how dirty the coffee machine was in the picy I gave it a good clean. I will use the tele lens & did you say it would look better with more ice cream in the cup Jim? I will try that too:-)
Jim B (MSP)17-Jan-2009 18:13
Great idea, and very well executed. I agree, I'd reshoot and try to minimize your reflection, as well as the one near the top at 11:00, which is probably the overhead light. You might even be able to clone that out. If you are out of ice cream, I'd bet you could even clone out your reflection.
Jim

Nice one Rod. I would try it with a tele lens though. You look like an cone head with this lens.
Canon DSLR Challenge17-Jan-2009 16:03
ooh... put my name on THIS one! Lovely shot, Rod. ~Lydia
Rod 17-Jan-2009 08:25
I'm very tempted:-)
ctfchallenge17-Jan-2009 05:34
Yes, I think a re-shoot...perhaps 2 or 3 might be in order. ;^) Watch out for the head freeze though! I'm seriously wanting one of these right now ~dtallakson
Rod 17-Jan-2009 05:00
Thanks D:-) Remember your rough looking dish with the water drop picy, well I couldn't believe how dirty the metal was behind the cup. It looked spotless to my eye but in the picy it was coffee splashes everywhere. I tried to clean it up with the clone tool thingy but maybe I should re shoot it a. Yum:-)
ctfchallenge17-Jan-2009 04:52
This is a good one Rod. Nicely exposed. Love the reflections in the chrome. Mmmm I bet that ice cream was good....but, don't tell me! ;^) ~dtallakson
