I do like the looks of this.

The detail of the granular snow looks really slick here- makes me think of a serpent slithering through the snow.

The deep shadows are great except for the part on the leaf. The snow framing work well too. -Doug

Debi, the lens is a 25 year old manual focus which is OK since I don't use autofocus for macro work even if available. It focuses to 1:2 ratio in a full frame camera and even closer on the XTI. Advantages: long focal length keeps the lens further away from the subject. Optics are well corrected with no distortion but slight chromatic aberration in very contrasty situations as in many older lenses. Construction is like a tank of course but not too heavy. Disadvantage: almost 8 inches long because of fixed barrel length and internal focus. Not quite as sharp as shorter focal lengths.

The Novaflex Canon to Nikkor mount is too thin to add any significant weight. The major advantage of the mount is that even the oldest Nikon lenses can be used with aperture priority metering on a Canon body. These early lenses cannot be used on the newer Nikon bodies; so they can be bought at bargain prices. An outstanding 55mm macro lens costs $89 - $99 at B&H in NYC. The German-made mount is a bit pricey however, over $200 (USD) because of the strength of the Euro. Changing lenses is a bit of a pain because the mount must first be attached to the lens before the lens-mount assembly is mounted to the body. -tv

I love the pointy shadow going from one edge to the other that we have no clue about. And the tiny little stone and it's shadow too. Very nice. Penny Street

The crystals look good - its seems to be a good macro lens- does the Nikon mount add to the weight? Pluses and minuses of the lens please- Debi

Geez you can get close with that lens, I really like the look of this except for the shadow going across the leaf.

I like how the snow frames the leaf and its shadow Tom - nice colors too. CJ
