Thanks Doug:-) the hardest part was keeping the background suitable, if I lifted the lens too much you could see a road, cars & shops. Picys of the bikes down in the bowl looked too static.

The first thing I thought of was going to a local skate park. There is no way I would have caught so much action and framed it so well. The graffiti adds so much to the picture too by enforcing a stereotype. Most excellent work Rod. It's not fair to say I already have a favorite vote getter so I won't. -Doug

Thanks DT:-) No none of the blokes were using protective gear, strange as there were no girls there to be impressed.

Well done, Rod. Great action shot. Was he wearing a helmet? ~dtallakson

Good action shot - hope he don't fall hard on the big concrete.

Great angle! Good cropping and detail.

Thanks Penny, Carole & Brent:-) Yes I didn't get much satisfaction out of this by using machine gun mode, maybe we're just Luddites:-) I wonder about the video mode on the 5D11 as they say it will be good for wedding photographers but while they're shooting video they're not taking stills which they were hired to do.Buggered if I know where it's all heading, it was bad enough seeing the computer generated shots parading as photos we see on the internet.

Great action shot with terrific perspective Rod, and nice b&w too! :-) CJ

I only like videos for music events and the little point and shoots are now good enough for them. IMO.

The compacted look of this makes our outlaw rider seem one with the concrete- well done mate. A bike course I had to shoot for that city project a ways back came to mind for this challenge as it was completely surrounded by concrete pillars holding up a freeway, won't have the time to go over there this round me thinks.
Your description of how you shot this makes me think a little of the supposedly good enough for web posting still captures you can get from the video on the new 5DII. Even if the quality still isn't quite there it will be some day. I sure hope the future doesn't hold all of us taking videos and just searching for the magic frame after the fact- just doesn't seem like art to me.

Thanks Debi darling:-)

Thanks Penny & Tommy:-) This was a new experience for me & I went the full monty into the new century. I used AI Servo focusing & machine gun mode for the very first time, itsa a bit like taking a movie & picking the best frame. I will be trying this again but next time I will be pre focussing & use single shot mode so I get the satisfaction that I actually took a picy:-) I got some nice ones of the rider on the other edge wiv a nice shadow but they needed a bit of a crop so I went wiv this uncropped one, which I like.

This is an amazing perspective - great picture - Debi

I luv the tight crop and interaction with the frame - the wheel looks like it is pushing off the lower edge. Great action, angles and tones. I wonder if you were using multi-exposures or the old coot way. -tv
