Shattering Consumerism - 70 Days 'till Christmas

This was a tough edit for me. I no longer have Photoshop CS3 at work and had to use v7.0. I didn't realize until now just how many extra useful tools there are in the newer version.

Canon EOS 30D ,Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
1/25s f/13.0 at 22.0mm iso800 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Someone is just barely ahead of the curve in their marketing campaign with this "shattered" analogy and Walmart has it right. This is likely to be disaster of credit crisis driven recession since banks have no extra money to lend except as they can borrow from the Federal Reserve Bank. In past years consumers spent what they didn't have but now they don't have that priviledge. -tv

Thanks for your comments all- let's hope the economy won't be extremely worse by the time Christmas rolls around.
Thanks for the tip Aam, I do have Lightroom 2.0. It's a great program although I have not started to use the new features it adds to v1.0 yet. The nice thing about Lightroom is you can use the same copy for both Mac and Windows platforms (limited to two total installs). I've taken to using a Mac at home and have the whole Creative Suite CS3 for that. I'm still on a PC at work and decided to sell the copy of CS3 I had for that platform- leaving me with just an old copy of Photoshop to use there. I expect I will eventually use a Mac at work too and can then share a copy of the Creative Suite with my home computer.
Many think Lightroom will be an eventual complete replacement for most of what we photographers do in Photoshop. But for the time being I find I still am wanting for some tools it doesn't have- but an old version of Photoshop doesn't either unfortunately :-(

Penny and Brent, just downloaded a trial Lightroom 2.0 and playing with it for a couple of minutes I fell in love with it. I would suggest LR 2.0 as a serious replacement for CS 3/4 (though never used CS before, just Elements).

Maybe we should have Xmas in two weeks time before things get really bad.I hope we get a soup kitchen close to home so I don't have to walk too far:-)

With the World financial crises, Christmas has been cancelled.
The supermarkets have had me confused for weeks as they move around their stock to make room for towers of Christmas puddings, tins of toffee, chocolates.Buy now buy often. Spend spend spend.
You're in debt, no problem add a bit more on your credit card.
I'm going back to bed. :(

For some people 70 days are still too short. Very busy, as an Xmas shot should be. DaB

Think of all the money you have saved not upgrading to every new version of Photoshop that comes out Penny- there have now been four since v7.0.
I can remember back when it was shocking to see Christmas stuff go up before the end of November Thanksgiving holiday. I wonder if at some point spring will mark the holiday shopping season- pretty pathetic.

I've only ever used 7.0 and didn't even know there was another one out there. Oh well - I heard on the news that WalMart has decided that they need to extend the days before Christmas to make up for the fact that people aren't spending money. What I really would like to tell them is that maybe, just maybe, people would be happier about celebrating the holiday if they weren't inundated with it for so long. It's really ridiculous. Thanks for the message. Unfortunately, seeing a tree right now annoys me enough that....well, I'd rather not say. Penny Street
