Well, as someone who isn't fond of bugs, I will admit that I have never gotten this close so I don't know what his smile would look like if it were one but he does look evil to me!!!

Now Lydia again stretches the boundaries of the topic. Smile, no, except with imagination which I can see (btw) but wont subscribe to.. OTOH (on the other hand) a really excellently executed image. Great bug! -tv

Really nice spot-on focus. Bright happy smile, with a terrific background (love the blue\gray).

Lydia, I have that lens also, but seem to use it for portraits more than macro. Works a treat. And you're right, prime lenses take getting used to. Well they say, "your legs are the best zoom". (old-timers, what are you gonna do?)

Thanks, Carole!
Rod, I didn't like that petal in the lower left... so to balance it, I had to take off the top. ~lydia

Great work with that macro lens Lydia and the color combination is terrific too! :-) CJ

If that's his mouth then it's definitely smiling then a:-) The picy straight from the camera looks really good too I'm not sure if I would have cropped it as I really like the background. Great picy anyhow.

Thanks, Mikey. Here's a link to the resized only image -- straight from the camera. I've added EXIF to the image here.

Thanks! He's on one of my waterlily blooms. I think it turned out well. I really like my 100mm. It's hard to get used to a prime lens... but I find that rocking back and forth for focus works...

Rod, I think the mouth is that thing inside the part that looks like an orange's skin. *grin* ~Lydia

This does look great wiv plenty of DOF too. I have been thinking about a macro lens but have read the DOF is really narrow when used at 1 1 size (life size) Did you use 11 size here Lydia or is it best to shoot at less than 11 & crop the picy to make the subject larger? Also can you tell me where the bees gob is so I can see if it's smiling:-)

Yes I don't like bees and glad to look at this evil smile with your macro. Good one.
