How does one whang white? It is the same white that was in 'real life' when I took the photo. (So are the other colors). No whanging. *grin* ~Lyia

The white looks whanged Doug:-)

If it were not for this challenge turning into Vivid part two it would have been perfect. I applaud your reluctance to whang though. -COAmature

So I'm an "illustrious host" huh? :-) This is a special purple color to me and does qualify in my opinion. However; with all the bright white coming at the viewer I don't think it portrays the color as well as it could. If you shot this image with this topic in mind I think things could have been done to flatter the topic more. I like the leaf as a compostion, just would prefer it in focus and not interacting with the frame.

I like the leaf... it's more of an 'idea' of a leaf... not drawing attention from the sharply focused purple. But, to each his own, of course!

Rod, what about the opal example our illustrious host gave us? He said the subtle colors of the opal made it work, since the photo was about the color. We have to make the viewer use the word 'color' to describe the image. I think this qualifies... as I'd say "that pop of color against the white really works for me". *grin* ~Lydia

This doesn't work for me at all. The composition seems stilted & for a big colour challenge a white backdrop diminishes wot little colour there is...............Bad girl:-)

I really like that purple a lot Lydia, kind of wish for a little more solid focus on the leaf though.

a very nice statement about two lovely colors and some angles -
too bad the leaf isn't all in focus (or did you plan it that way)
