I was shooting flowers in my yard after returning from my morning walk. What a bonus to find this pretty little spider! I've never seen one like it before.

Lovely capture. I think it's a crab spider here. Haven't had the pleasure of meeting one in person though. I've seen it before just from browsing.

Thanks for all the kind comments, folks. I'm trying to use some of my photos of interesting insects to convince my little nieces, who live in the city and don't have much contact with nature, that they don't have to scream every time they see a bug.

What a rare capture with that very unusual spider. I think you're right about the albino. -tv

Beautiful and I'm glad you're not afraid of spiders. (I am)

This is perfect for the challenge Mary Anne and the spider makes it extra special! The flower in the middle background is a little bright but that white spider keeps our eye on the main flower. CJ

Good stuff here Mary Anne. The white spider is perfect and on topic. A traditional black or brown spider would not have hit the mark so well. -COAmature

Great shot, Mary Anne, with wonderful color! The spider is a Goldenrod Crab Spider.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misumena_vatia Scroll down and read what it says at "color change". Pretty amazing! ~Sharon

"an albino mutation of some type". That was the first thing that crossed my mind, too.

This looks great Mary Anne. Beautiful color (like the OOF yellow in back too) and perhaps the world's most rare spider? That thing is so pretty it must have a wicked bite. Excellent work Mary Anne!

A fine capture. I don't recall ever seeing a white spider like this one. Could be an albino.

Thanks, Aam. Actually, I was wondering if the spider is an albino mutation of some type.

Is that a real spider, Mary Anne (I know it is because you said so). Never seen a white one before. Nice and well exposed yellow you have. Yellow and red are always a challenge.
