8th- "Dragonfly"

That's my finger that this little fellow landed on while I was on a boat ride. Somehow I managed to hold the camera steady enough with one hand to get this shot.

This is an extraordinary shot, Mary Anne. The dragonflies around my water garden are never this bold. I have to sneak up on them and even then they usually fly away when I within 5 or 6 feet. And, you were a true photographer....moving your hand around to get the right background! Well done! ~dtallakson

Thank you Brent, Tommy, and Penny. It was a wonderful experience, and I managed to get off 5 or 6 shots, even moving my hand enough to get a background of blue sky rather than dark green trees. And all this despite despite my brother-in-law's repeated teasing "Watch out...he's going to bite you!"

What a great experience you had there - both with the little creature and getting the camera to perform at the same time. Nicely done!

Amazingly well executed and such a rare shot. Probably nearly impossible with a weighter camera/lens combo. I've come to appreciate the lighter plastic cameras and lenses for their portability and practical uses as this shows. -tv

Wow! You nailed this one Mary Anne. Very cool looking insect- his eye looks like the gas tank on one of those tricked out Harley motorcycles! Great work.

Thank you Lydia, Aam, and Rod. Lydia, this kit lens is sometimes unbelievably sharp, and at other times I can't get it into sharp focus for anything. This shot was taken on a very bright day, so that may have made the difference.

Wonderful, Mary Anne! That lens is a bargain, for sure... and mostly underestimated, I think. ~Lydia
