Nice soft lighting and great color tone. A great looking chick.

The bottom feathered part are the beginnings of her legs. This is not cropped, just the way I happened to shoot her. She was standing on white foamcore board and I placed a black panel to her left (camera right) for that 'mysterious' black edge.

Well BUMMER, Debbi! I hope you'll try again. I enjoy the anonymousness of the voting there... really tells me what's what with my photos. Some bomb (like my "Lawn" image now) but, it's still fun competing against myself for raising my score. I really like this.

What's the bottom feathered part, please? ~Lydia

What a well groomed chick! I like the sympathetic color of the bg - from other chickens? -tv

This is great Debbi! It's funny and has such nice color and detail. Very well done. I just started posting to DPChallenge myself (this would have gotten a great score from me). I've entered just a few images so far, but with one I can already tell as you say- humor doesn't go over that well there. It also seems like many voters are quite young and things go right over their head or they don't have the patience to really study an image.

LOL, Yes it's the same "female portrait" that I did for DPChallenge. I had never entered anything there before and didn't realize how some folks there have no sense of humor. Oh well
I really liked it better than most of the 'female portraits" I saw on that challenge LOL
Thanks,

Yes, it was taken in my garage studio and I used a Botero background. It is a pet hen and she was actually terrified to be in a dark garage. She froze, and I got the shot!

Agree with Mary Anne. This is the best chicken picture I've ever seen. it was taken in a studio, right.

I wondered if this was yours when I saw the name on Female Portrait, Debbi! I scored this one very high and was annoyed and surprised that others did not agree with me. I love this. It looks like she's talking to me. *grin* ~Lydia

Debbi, I think this is the nicest chicken picture I've ever seen. The details of the feathers and the head are so sharp that I can almost feel them, and the background makes it look like a formal posed portrait. Well done.
