Want a treat? Explore www.bizarro.com ! Better yet, acquire the books and laugh your ass off. Or perhaps you can visit him in Brooklyn -- watch for the guy riding around on the weird, pumpkin-colored bicycle. His "Get A Job!!" cartoon (see below) is one of my all-time favorite single panel gag cartoons.
I also recommend going out of your way to catch Dan's shows. See his site for the latest details.
In November of 2007, Dan's strip was the subject of "Jeopardy" answer. The category was "Cartoons" and the question was something like, "This cartoon by Dan Piraro was a replacement for The Far Side." The contestant got it right! Dan's response: "After 23 years of syndicated comics, I've finally hit the big time! Of course, my cartoon started running ten years before The Far Side was retired so it wasn't accurate, but STILL!"
For those of you who like it when cartoonists draw original sketches in your books, Piraro is The Man.
