Went out to try and re-find the Black-Bellied Whistling Duck, but had to settle for the Great Horned Owl family (mom and two owlets) that has been a local birders' favorite over the past several days. Shot from a good distance with a long lens and then greatly cropped, so as not to disturb them. Unfortunately, there were still a few people that were too close.

Yesterday's photo:

Canon EOS R5

other sizes: small medium original auto

How wonderful to catch even a glimpse of this family.

Oh, so beautiful. I am relieved that mostly people are giving them space, which is vital. Terrific shot, proving one doesn't need to be a foot away. V

Such a beautiful and sweet capture. Well seen and the clarity is great for a long lens and cropped image. I get really irritated by people that do not respect wildlife enough to keep their distance as you mentioned in your remarks. VV

How to go Carl - we have rude birders in our area too! I've yet to get the Black-bellied Whistling Duck too!

Looks like they have a cosy spot. Hope they won't be disturbed.

gruff, retiring, and rightly so...any Mum has the right to defend her offspring..

Good distant shot Carl.
