Yes, it's TICK season! Ugh, I hate these things. Never had to worry about them here until about 15-20 years ago. This is an Eastern Black-legged Tick that was crawling on Kodi. I pulled one off of me a couple of days ago and its mouth parts are still in my skin. Aargh! Luckily it had only been there for a few hours. Doxycycline to the rescue.

Nasty blighters, I do a daily tick check every night - no fun at all to have one of these attached.

Vile bug! I gave Kailey her Bravecto medication a few weeks ago.

Interesting detail. Evidently common here. I've never seen one.

Yuck! Just yuck! We're seeing a rise in Lyme's here in the UK too...luckily I've not been bitten (touch wood) and am very careful when out and about walking in the hills

Nice to have a Dr. that will provide the prescription upon being bitten. Miserable little beasts!

Good creepy photo and good reminder for us all to be vigilant for these deadly disease bearing pests.

I HATE, HATE, HATE these things. Relatively uncommon a few years back, Lyme disease has absolutely exploded here. Even so, our current doctor still won't prescribe Doxycycline unless you know with certainty that the tick has been feeding on you for over 48 hours; plus, you also display the symptom of a bullseye rash. Go figure. Ticks here also carry something called Heartland Tick Disease https://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/heartland-virus-disease-overview that is a virus (untreatable by antibiotics) and can be fatal. Great photo, but creepy that this thing was on Kodi. I've found ticks attached to Bailey 3 different times this year, and she doesn't go anywhere to pick up ticks. We removed them immediately, but still... My hubby also has gotten bitten several times this Summer, too, but he does a lot of work in the yard where the deer frequent. Thus, more exposure. To me, above is a "horror" photo. Ticks are so disgusting and can be so dangerous.

Super closeup, but I think I’d faint if I saw one on me!

I'm with you Carl - hate ticks; but in our area (NW Virginia) I'm even more upset with Chigger bites; a mid-summer big problem!

Ticks are certainly moving north, especially these ones. They weren't found here either until about 15-20 years ago, now they're common. I've had so many on me over the last 5+ years I've lost count! Good photo of this one!
