Christmas Tears

This blizzard is no joke. Although we don't have much snow here, the winds have been howling since Friday and it is bitter cold. This will be the first time in my life that I haven't spent at least part of Christmas Eve at my parents. The first time I haven't seen my daughter or sisters.

My dad is just there now—his street buried in 5-8' drifts. Thankfully, he has an able and caring neighbor that cleared the snow from his furnace exhaust to restore his heat. The house was in the low 50s for several hours since the very early morning.

We'll be missing that tradition along with Christmas Day dinner at my wife's uncle and aunt's house, too.

Thankfully though, we are all safe and with power. Lots of people in the area have been without power for two days and it will probably be at least another day before they are restored.

A Christmas to remember for sure.

I am glad everyone is safe and I hope everyone can get together soon.

We came to Michigan from Texas to celebrate Christmas with my husbands family. First time in 35 years to come 'up north' for the holidays. Day two, we got snowed in. But at least we've been snowed in together. And we didn't lose power during the blizzard. A real blessing. But remember, Christmas is in your heart even when you can't be together. Hugs and hoping for better weather for all!

It has been a very daunting storm and reaching from west to east, north to south. Unbelievable. I am glad you have power, are safe and warm, and your family too, even if you can't be together at this moment. You will be soon, I'm sure.

Happy to hear you're safe and have power, at least, although sorry you couldn't spend the holiday with your family.

So sorry to hear about your difficult Christmas. Stay safe and warm and when things clear up you can have your family get together….at least the Bills won today.
