A Northern Flicker (Yellow-shafted) feeds on some wild apples. They are small and yellow when ripe. I say wild, because it's a tree that we made sure the developers spared on the edge of our yard. In spring, the beautiful blossoms attract many pollinating insects and in turn, many different songbirds looking to feed on them.
