White Admiral × Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis arthemis × f. astyanax)

I learned this was an "intergrade" species. If you look closely, you can see the subtle white band of the White Admiral on the forewing.


Not sure why they like our doormat, but they do!

Hard to believe this species is the same as the White Admiral:
