The bats have returned! In late spring, the wildlife rehabilitator brought the two bats that stayed too long last fall, as well as two others she had cared for over the winter back to our house and placed them in the same location—a decorative wooden flag hanging on our garage. None of them stayed. A couple of days ago a neighbor down the street said they had a bat problem with 30 or 40 bats entering a hole in the eaves of their porch. They said they called an exterminator (to my dismay), but they also said their next door neighbor told them to wait until they leave at night and plug the hole. They must have done that, because the next day I noticed a lot of noise coming from behind the flag.
These two were probably trying to get some fresh air this afternoon. I say trying to get some fresh air, because we counted over 60 bats leaving the 20" x 30" flag last night!
