Such Beauty

I took a bunch of old electronics (cell phones, printers, tons of power cords and cables, etc.)
to a local recycler today. I've been struggling a lot lately with "consumerism"—especially when
I look at these discarded items and think about how much money I spent for them initially and what
they're worth now (next to nothing on eBay). But it's not only what they cost me individually.
It's what they cost everyone. The amount of refuse in our "throw it out and buy a new one society"
is disgusting. Think about how much garbage your family generates in a week. Multiply by millions.
How much longer can this planet sustain us?

This is so beautiful. I really don’t think the human race can sustain itself. V

Totally agree. I have made some changes but sometimes I feel like I'm an addict continuing to make bad choices even though I know better.

Beautiful photo but yes, some sad words.

Agree with you Carl, but the manufacturers are also to blame by producing articles with a limited life time. Even worse is the fact that the U.S. no longer plays a leadership role.

I totally concur with what you say and have been questioning all the stuff that is bought and how much we throw away. And how much plastic there is - we are drowning in it. I very consciously try not to buy anything that comes wrapped in plastic but it ain't easy. So much to think about, but your gorgeous shot adds a note of serenity.

A point well taken, Carl.. We live in a throw away society..
