Red Eft

My wife spotted it on the edge of the driveway this morning while she had the dogs out.
This is the larval stage of the Eastern Newt. The red eft is terrestrial,
while the adult Eastern Newt is aquatic. Always one of my favorite amphibians.

Alert looking fellow. I presume those spots warn that he is a bad meal.

Nice, I don't always see those spots on the side.

When it is raining we see these guys on our walks in the Berkshires with the dogs. Such cool looking little guys.
