08/05/2011 - _MG_3019.jpg

Out for a hike today with a few out-of-state cousins who came to visit. We were thrilled to find
a fresh Black Bear print in the soft mud along side the road that was not there when we first passed
the area, but on our way back to the car. No sign of the bear other than the print.

The print measured about 5.5" top to bottom.

other sizes: small medium original auto

That's a big bear print! Very neat to capture such a fresh track.

That's closer to a bear than I'd like to get!

That's a pretty big paw print. My husband saw a Black Bear, about 100 feet away, when he was walking the dogs in the Berkshires a few weeks ago. Glad the dogs were on the leashes. They were looking the other way when he saw the bear but certainly smelled him when they got to the spot where he had crossed the road. Cool shot and well done with your foot next to it for a size comparison. V

It is a thrill to find these remnants of the wild things. The print came out very well in your photo, too.

Perhaps its a good thing you didn't see the bear and he didn't see you.

Cool find. Take care man, it could have been a little Big Foot. :)
