Looking West this morning, the remnants of a lone Tulip Tree flower from last season
sits in the branches against a forest of maple and ash being warmed by the sun.

How neat! Love the tracery of the branches against that perfect backdrop. Up this way, Tulip trees are rare because we are a bit too cold for them, yet the Arboretum has two, or had two, one died recently.

What Mairead said - this works beautifully because of its simplicity and economy of elements...great strength in the composition with that diagonal! Cracking shot Carl!!

I think I can feel the warmth of the sun too. Fabulous warm background for this lovely diagonal image. ~V~

The diagonal makes for a strong composition. Nice background to bring out the shapes of the branches. V

Another month and I'm sure this tree will be filled with blooms again.

I like both the starkness and the bold quality of the shot. Great observation. V.
