So who knows what the WEEE symbol means? More importantly, how many consumers respect it?

This kind of stuff drives me nuts. Companies put this symbol on electronics meaning "do not discard"
in the normal trash. They're being responsible, by following the law that requires they setup
facilities to recycle electronic waste, except not many consumers have been educated to its meaning.

Totally agree - I'd be more than happy to recycle all my waste, but we only have local provision for so much; recycling batteries for instance necessitates a five mile round trip to the local dump....hardly green to do that. but it's that or put out with the usual household waste and I won't do that...

Very good point! I scour products to determine safety and recycling, but I'm in the minority. I agree - it's one thing to identify how something should be disposed and another thing on making it available and convenient to dispose of it properly. Grrrr...

Can't say I've ever seen that symbol before. And, I doubt that it's paid much attention to anyway. We live in a throw-away society.
