Thanks, guys. This was kind of an eerie scene. We had thunderstorms and rain in town, and we were out driving and saw that the nearby mountain had clouds at about mid-level. So we drove up to be in the clouds and see how it looked.
This playground is near some camp sites, but because it was getting dark, and was rainy, cold, and foggy, it wasn't getting any use.
The shot was processed with auto white balance, and middle settings for contrast, color tone, and saturation. But to me, things do look a bit more blue than it did to the eye. Still, I kind of liked the effect. I have no idea how the camera does its AWB, but in this case, it ended up giving the shot a good mood.
I did darken the shot by 1.3 stops when converting the RAW with DPP's "brightness" adjustment, but it was already fairly dark because I'd metered for the fog.
One thing that's sort of disappointing with this small version is that you can't really see all of the water drops on everything which to me, adds to the cold, damp feel.
I did think that the place had a menacing, creepy feel to it. There's something sinister about abandoned playground equipment, I guess. It might have been really great to have had a small child to position in the background someplace, just staring at the camera. Jim H.
I agree with Traveller - it's good, and a little scary looking! Nice toning Jim and I like the composition. Looks like a misty evening, which really adds to the mood. Nice shot! :-) CJ
