Spring Frond

Austin, TX

This is a new frond on the cardboard palm I thought I killed
last winter. I kept the plant on the off chance that it would
still sprout. This is one of the new fronds.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM
1/500s f/11.0 at 300.0mm iso800 full exif

I guess I'll give myself the same criticism I'm doling out to others. This is more a high key simulation than a real high key image. It's a washed-out low key image. Does that make a high key image? I suppose so, in some instances. However, I would ask whether the image looks better with the washed out treatment than without it. If the answer is definitely not, then I think the goal of creating a high key image was missed. -- Victor

This is good Victor, great texture and very 'cardboardy' as the name implies. I like the subdued colour of the background stem/leaves that fade into the background and the low contrast gradation from the body to the outer section of the frond. I think that, in particular is one of the factors inherent in high key images as I believe. ~ Regards Bob
