Very nice shot. I don't think you could have cropped it any better - I love the partial head light, the shadow at the bottom, the highlight at the top, the texture, the peeling paint - The more I look the more I like - Very well done.

Good work K2, You are correct. It is a Pettibone Extendo Reach Cary-Lift. I used it when I built my house for digging, moving logs and lifting beams for the house. I still use it for odd jobs around the place. Here is a pic using it to place the pre-cast basement walls of my house:

And a few more in:

Mary Anne, I did both color and B&W. In the end I took the B&W because or the contrast. Here are a few more:

Melbob, Sorry for taking so much of you time. The texture of the paint takes years of exposure to the wet Pacific NW weather to get the moss to grow on the surface.

Thanks everyone for looking,
Jim

Well thank you Jim... you successfully occupied several hours of searching and reading interesting articles about all sorts of machinery... ;-)

Congratulations to 'Sherlock'... lol.... you did well .. but I thought if anybody could find it K2 certainly would.... I'm so impressed.

Love the paint job.... they must use a special roller to get that great texture..?

I like the shot, Jim, but I'm curious about why you didn't present it in color. I think contrasting colors would make the raised parts look more three-dimensional. Or maybe just up the contrast and add some USM.

Pretty cool, Jim! I like the peeling paint and the worn metal... with just a glimpse of the glass. Good job! ~Lydia

Found it: It's "Pettibone Mulliken Corporation", founded 1880.
When all else fails, search for the manual on eBay.

vaguely guessing "p-something machinery company". Found this:

which seems to have the same logo. The object is described as a "Wide Bite Drag Bucket, crane/dragline"
Probably mergered with other companies long ago. Perhaps someone at the newer PMCo (Peterson Machinery Company) might know what it is.

No Penny, not a scooter. A little bigger then that.

Approximately six hours after this was posted I did a Google search for "PMCO Logo" and Google pointed me to this image, SIX HOURS! I am constantly amazed by Google.

I still don't have a clue what PMCO is but my guess is some kind of Motor Company.

Fun shot and the B&W works well here.
