NOW?.. Mummy

Melbourne

Little dancers on stage 'strutting their stuff'

This little girl was really moving whilst transfixed on her mum in the audience.
Used high ISO and fast shutter speed to stop the motion.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM
1/5000s f/2.8 at 90.0mm iso1250 full exif

Thanks Trav, I did use the Gaussian Blur Filter and finished the edges with the blur tool from the toolbox, but I cloned the boy out before applying these filters. I also used the 'Healing Brush' to even out the texture of the frame from which the boy was removed..... this gives a smoother blend with the surroundings whereas the clone tool sometimes leaves visible transitions that can be distracting. Tedious but effective.

This is 100% crop from a frame that captured not only these three children but the other members of the band as well. They were dancing vigorously so hence the ISO 1250 and the high shutter speed.

I should have zoomed in just to this little one because she was so cute. Fortunately the 5D and that 200mmL lens has enough resolution to stand a hefty crop.

Much better Bob! I presume you used a Gaussian filter to take him out? I learn so much from you...Nicely done. I think I can even vote for this now. Best Wishes, Traveller

Thanks Marjan and Mary Anne. I played a little as you suggested, I think it does work a little better.
I originally left the boy in it because it tended to centralise the image but was distracting as you suggested.

Thanks for your suggestions, regards Bob.

This one is also nice, Bob. I love the look of intense concentration on her face. But once again, I would increase contrast and maybe blur the other girl's face a bit. Also, how about getting rid of the part of a face on the right, which is only a distraction?
