Thanks Najinsky and Alastair. This was shot in Pioneer Square, the oldest neighborhood in Seattle.

Very nice composition, and very much on the theme (but then, it would be), Where is this?

I like this a lot too. The colours, details and perspective all reward investigation. -Najinsky

Thanks for your explanation, Brent. I guess we all struggle with that size limit, but some shots seem to have a wonderful sharpness that I have difficulty maintaining. Maybe it has to do with good glass to start with (as opposed to my kit lens), so less sharpening in PP is needed.

Thanks Mary Anne and Ann :-)
Yes, lots of bricks are especially hard to get under 150K Mary Anne. I try not to save at less than 8 quality in PS. If I'm not able to do that I backup and resize a little smaller. If I still don't make it under 150K but I'm close; I try using a little less sharpening after I resize (it seems heavy sharpening makes them harder to compress). I have also noticed that CS3 seems to do a better job of arriving at the target size when saving at 8 quality (though Adobe may have just lowered the benchmark for 8). In the end, some you think will be hard to compress aren't. I would have liked to have been able to post this at 800 on the long side, but I was still able to post it bigger than I thought I was going to be able to. I didn't need to here, but with some shots I use a light noise reduction filter (noiseware pro plug-in) before saving (if it doesn't take away too much detail) because noise eats up a lot of space. I don't know that I do anything you already don't do, but I'm sure others here can offer more and better advise for getting quality under 150K.

Very very nice. Great color. Crisp detail. Good handling fo the high contrast light at the end of the street. Ann

I love shots like this! But how do you manage to maintain such sharp detail (esp. with all those bricks) when you reduce the size to 150k or less? My pics always seem to lose too much sharpness unless they're relatively simple images or b & w.

Lol. Already; a quick glance around the gallery tells me there is no chance that will happen. But thanks Trav :-)
