Goodbye Blue Sky [n]

Oradour-sur-Glane

"Down this road, on a summer day in 1944. . . The soldiers came. Nobody lives here now. They stayed only a few hours. When they had gone, the community which had lived for a thousand years. . . was dead. . . At the village of Oradour-sur-Glane, the day the soldiers came, they killed more than six hundred men, women. . . and children. Remember."

- Sir Laurence Olivier - Narrating 'The World at Word' 1974

The villiage remains in ruins today, in remembrance of the events of that day.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oradour-sur-Glane for a fuller account

Pink reference: As the backdrop to The Wall project, Pink lost his father in Anzio during WWII (as did Roger Waters). This informs the songs, Bring the Boys Back Home, Run Like Hell and Goodbye Blue Sky.

Thankyou for the comments, especially regarding the colours. It's been an interesting exercise processing the colours to convey an atmosphere. Yuvraj, I didn't have a lot of time there, but got a few shots. I have added a Gallery link above. Regards -Najinsky

Very nice color processing .. captures the desolated mood very well ..

Also, sad story about the town. Did you take any other pictures of this town?

Very dramatic. It has the look of an old, colorized photo. --mlynn
