Hi Lydia - I have no idea about the compression technique... I simply ask PhotoShop Elements to "save for web" and then scale the quality down to just within the limits.

Najinsky, I stand guilty as charged about the rotation and can kick myself for not spotting that earlier. Sorry!!

This was more-or-less and experiment in Photoshopping, to be honest. I had the camera on tripod and took quite a couple of shots as the second hand was just passing the twelve on successive occasions.

Five of these shots were then overlaid in PS Elements with varying degreess of opacity and the "not-required bits" simply erased. The object of the exercise was to make the clock appear as if it was moving "backwards". (Partially successful, but not as persuasive as I had in my mind's eye.)

Kelly, this probably also explains the irregular intervals: I was simply clicking manually at approx the time when I thought the hand would be at +2s, +1s, etc.

Regards Nico

Very nice Nico. I love overall toning and feel, but the fading shadows are a master stroke (or five to be precise). A very slight niggle is that it seems to be rotated a degree or two clockwise which for some reason is quite noticeable. -Regards -Najinsky

How in the world do you get this this sharp after all of this resize and crop and everything? Amazing. ~Lydia

Very nice Nico, it works well both as a rectangular and a square. --mlynn

Interesting how the earlier moments are darker than the latest one and how all moments have been spaced at irregular intervals - Kelly

Ticking away the minutes until our host informs you that you have to make this square? LOL! ;) I do like the multiple, fading shadow. ~ Lonnit
