Another excellent shot Nico, and thank you for sharing how you put it together. --mlynn

Thanks for the kind words, dear friends.

:-) Yes, Najinsky, there might indeed have been some shaking of heads...! :-)

Regards Nico

This is crazy stuff, in a very very good way! I have visions of your loved ones watching you spray paint water, shaking their head and quietly discussing the early days when you went off looking for Witches. :-) Regards -Najinsky

Yes, Nico. This works now. ~Lydia

Ditto from me. This caught my eye as soon as I saw it. Very well done. Very creative.
Canon DSLR Challenge22-Dec-2007 19:14
Amazing image, Nico. My brain is still trying to wrap itself around how you did this, but I think I've got it now. Incredibly inventive. Genius isn't too strong a word to describe it. Better rid of red, too. Cheers, -mikey

LOL! Bob, you have a way with words! :-)

I should have added "no camera damaged either" since the little plastic parts come from a "inhalation device" for asthmatics called an "Seretide accuhaler" (TM). If you google an image of this device you will see what the outside looks like.

Thanks for the kind words, Sire! Regards Nico

Good one Nico, this certainly did not extract quite the emotional backlash of your previous masterpiece... lol

It is great, I like the 'hammertone' paint appearance... cleverly done.

So much for "No models, make-up artists or other creative partners were tortured, injured, killed or emotionally traumatized in the process of creating this image" .... I guess there is no hope of getting that camera mechanism back into the poor beggar's camera from which it was unceremoniously extracted? (... looks like a shutter timer mechanism and perhaps ring focus cog?) ;-)

Congratulations, not only on your photographic and artistic aptitude but also for your extreme patience, determination, grit, unerring devotion to 'the Challenge' ... against overwhelming slings and arrows of outrageous controversy, before which a mere mortal would have fallen asunder!

Arise... SIR Nico... and family ;-)

~ Humbly ... Bob of Melb :-)

Thanks everyone. Lydia, I did not want the nose hole to disappear completely, but posted a version here where it is perhaps a little less prominent. Thanks for the feedback though. Regards Nico
Canon DSLR Challenge22-Dec-2007 02:19
Now this IS mechanical Art! I too like this version without the red best. Excellent work!
Barry
Canon DSLR Challenge22-Dec-2007 00:53
Thanks for removing the red and making this a work of art, Nico. The nose hole bothers me a bit (perhaps one simple clone tool click is in order?), but not enough to ruin a piece of art. GENIUS using water and spray paint! ~Lydia

My Very Humble Apologizes, Sir. This could not be better. I don't know where the dash of Red might have been, but that probably was a momentary error. Seriously, this is a winner on every level possible...emotionally, intellectually, creatively; the textures are...stupendous...the everything is just perfect and...what is most interesting is that...this is very emotionally engaging on a human level, though there is not a touch of flesh about this.

I may have a quibble about the title. I am still internally debating the issue. I think I would prefer...The Birth, as an odd affirmation, as opposed to the current title of The Death...but I still don't know about this. I'm thinking.

But this, this will receive my vote for sure...and I hope everyone else's, this is great.

Best Wishes, Traveller (PS New comment under Humanoid also)

Nico - I think I like this better than the first one with Lizzy, but don't tell her that ;) - Kelly
Canon DSLR Challenge21-Dec-2007 19:40
Fantastic idea - very creative and I like the "bloodless version" so much more. Honestly, I would have guessed the sculpture to have been the inspiration behind "Humanoid" rather than the other way around. The water and the spray paint are brilliant! - Kelly
jnconradie21-Dec-2007 16:20
Sorry, Kelly, I wanted to add about the "sculpture". I bought a plastic fac mask and then glued to it all the same little "gadgets" we glued to Lizzy's face when making the "humanoid" pic. I even tried glueing each one in approximately the same spot! The whole "sculpture" was then semi-submersed in one of my better half's plastic trays filled with water. Next came a thick layer of silver spray paint! The concept sounded better than what the end result look like, I am afraid. :-) Regards Nico
jnconradie21-Dec-2007 16:16
Now replaced with a "blood-less" version. The red paint did not quite do the trick.

The pic was really only intended as tongue-in-cheek visual proof to Traveller that I had killed off the humanoid and that there will be no further humanoid entries from my side - I think. :-)

Regards Nico

Great 'sculpture' and extremeley funny disclaimer. Maybe just a couple of red tears might work better. --Aussiedawg
Canon DSLR Challenge21-Dec-2007 15:07
Nico! this is wonderful! though the splash of red isn't doing much for me other than being distracted. Did you make this sculpture? Can we see more of it? - Great image! - Kelly

LOL, Nico! Your humor is wonderful! (But not this image, IMHO) ~Lydia
