Thanks for commenting Bob/Nico.

Nico, it's winter time up here and time for me to start learning about this mysterious lighting thing, so I'm improvising a do-it-yourself studio. The subjects are sat on a Lino floor tile placed on an upturned storage box (I went into a carpet shop and asked the owner if he had any old sample books, he gave me about twenty metalic effect tiles, expect to see them over the comming challenges!). There is a desk-top halogen lamp angled almost horizontal in line with the top of the box to the left of subject (illuminating from the front left and slightly above). On the 20D I had a Metz 36 Hotshoe flash-gun in E-TTL mode pointing directly up for bounce off a white ceiling. This gave too much shadow so I put a plastic carrier bag over the flash, which I think acted as a defuser, and gave loads of even lighting. The Camera was on Manual exposure and manual focus. This setup overexposed it by about 1.7 stops. I was looking for about a half stop over to give it a sharp bright appearance but I was shooting raw, so I didn't bother trying to adjust the flash power and just lowered the exposure in PP. I got lots of different compositions and I'm still deciding on whether I like the Allure at this angle.

Bob, it is amazing how often they change the head design. Each time I go to buy replacement heads, I end up getting a new model instead!

Wow! Very professional looking image. Could step right into some ad campaign, in my opinion. How did you light this? Regards Nico

I thought I left a comment but it disappeared.... ;-(

Oh well.... I'll do it again... I like this composition Naj. and I can't help but comment on the multitude of variations the manufacturer has made to this style of cutting mechanism over the many years.

I do like the subtle shades and tones in this image. ~ Regards Melbob
