I think there are different spellings. Crapaud seems more common. Jersey people have the nickname of Crapaud (pronounced Crappo) which is a French name for a type of Toad. This is strange Naj - what is inscribed on the column? Was a witch burned here? And what is that white blotch near the top of the column? - Interesting stuff. - Kelly

I love this bold composition. Very nice! What are the wires? Are they to discourage birds? I had to look Crapeaud up. And one of the hits was of a frog (actually, it looked like a toad) - which made no sense to me, but now I see that perhaps, up on top of the pedestal, is that - a toad? Cool :) Jim H.
