Getting Roasted

Large Image: Benbow's Roast Master Ron Greenberg carefully monitors all aspects of the roast including the color of the beans at critical points during the roast while meticulously adjusting and recording the temperature of the flame every 60 seconds on this state of the art Smart Roaster.

Smaller Images: Top row shows Costa Rican beans from raw to finish roast. Bottom row shows Organic Sumatra from raw to finish or final "crack".

Thanks Bob for remarking. I really never intended to have "Getting Roasted" considered for voting as it's almost clinical and lacks certain aesthetic appeal, but it was fun being with Ron and learning more of what's he's been doing for the past 25 years. I hope, if nothing else, others will also find the image and narrative educational. - Kelly

Hey this is good Kelly... I like grinding them and drinking the resultant extracted 'nasties' but never took much notice of the roasting process. Thanks for posting this series, good stuff. ~ Regards Melbob
