For The Very Temporary Heck of It, California Tea

Now Just how normal would it be for Aussie Dog and myself to be shooting oil derricks on the very same day? Weird if you ask me!

Oh, as for the 4th vs. the 3rd, Aussie is one day ahead of me time zone-wise.

Yes, AussieD, when you think about it and connecting those variable...it is pretty Odd. Serendipity is not entirely the right word I'm looking for...Hummm, but interesting especially because of the Challenge topic. I will think on this. Best Wishes, Traveller

Eventhough we didn't take them on the same day, what are the odds that with a international group of maybe 75 people who will post images, that we grab some pictures of the same oil field for a Coffee and Tea challenge? --AussieDawg

Ah ha! Brea Canyon Road, which I happened to take simply because the 57 Freeway was so jammed packed...and I went, Hummmm...what are these doing here?!? How cool, I had no idea this was tucked away so neatly in an urban setting. I like your's better and I was going to do this in Sepia also, calling it "1937" but you had already done it and done it well. Best Wishes, Traveller

Hey I think I own those! I inherited a small oil holding about 15 years ago. It has been split down through the family so many times it is just a fraction of the original lease, and doesn't pay much - like $400-$600 a year or something, but it is in this same general area. I like the brag rights of being an oil baron:). I've never visited my oil field before . . . thanks for the image Trav. Cindy

I like the comment about great minds :). I knew I had to get mine in quick. I couldn't get out when I wanted to and kept checking the galleries expecting to see someone else do this. Actually, AussieDawg comes from my best friend being my Australian Shepherd. I don't live in Australia. I think Traveller and I hang out in the same general area. My Texas Tea was taken on Sunday Nov 4 in Brea Canyon, North Orange County, CA. -- AussieDawg

These shots remind me of areas near home. The Teapot Dome oilfield not too far from here is a classic. Sagebrush, rattlesnakes, and oil pumpjacks cover the area. And that H2S smell - like rotten eggs - or as they say.... "Smells like money." ;) Jim H.

"Two great minds think alike" that is the only answer one could possibly give Trav!

Nice shot, love the rich colours and don't ya just hate the scar we humans leave on this planet? ... But we are as much to blame as anyone.... we use the stuff?

Good post Trav ~ Regards Melbob
