What everyone has said: stunning colours and composition. Light-hearted, off-beat, fun... enjoyable. I like it!

This is really an interesting concept for making specialty coffees - I think I'll look into this. Oh, and a great colorful and well composed image too! ;-) CJ

Well. Ya learn something new every day. *grin* Thanks for the explanation. Seems there's much more to this coffee drinking that I knew... ~Lydia

Full marks to Kelly, all facts present and correct. Nice detective work there! Bob, they work out at 22p per cup (once you have the machine) which is expensive compared to a Jar of of instant, but cheap compared to an expresso at Starbucks. But they have the advantage of being quick, convenient and fresh. They come in different flavours, intensities and strengths. The purple is strong and intense while the red is a decaf' (for a friend who climbs the walls on caffeine). So at a dinner party you can serve five different types of coffee and keep everyone happy for a quid (+ tip).

Lydia, they contain ground coffee beans, sealed while fresh. In use, the tops get a sharp pipe pushed through them while the bottom (foil) get perforated as can be seen on the saucer. pressurised hot water is pushed through the pipe, into the capsules and fresh coffee is filtered through the foil. Smells lovely.

Thanks for the comments :-) -Najinsky

It took a little while digging for images on Google while expanding my vocabulary, but these are espresso capsules from the company Nespresso (Nestle) whose logo is imprinted on the cup. In Naj's companion image, you can see the handle (possibly from the Nespresso D300 Espresso machine) with a spent capsule in the handle. - Kelly

Oh!... so thats is what they are... pre-ground coffee/filter/capsule thingies? Boy... that must be an expensive way to make a cuppa? ~ Regards Melbob

What are those things, Naj? Did you monogram your own cup, too? I like this... colorful and fun. ~Lydia
