I also like the first one better, but I like this too. I would keep the noise, but I tend to like the grainy look in monochrome.

Thanks for the comments, everybody! I actually did this one first for a Yahoo group contest just playing around in Elements 5 with various filters and effects and it's probably a bit overdone. Then I did the previous image in Photoshop especially for this challenge with higher contrast and less noise.

LOL... without the noise, I like this one much better. It takes all kinds, I suppose.. . *smile* ~Lydia

Welcome to the challenges.
I would second Bob's observations.

This is terrific as well Judy. My personal preference is for the first one because of these factors:

This has a different mood, slightly more 'harsh' and depending upon the message that was intended, portrays a greater feeling of sadness and I guess 'reality'

The more obvious sepia tones tend to 'lower' the perceived contrast and the histogram actually verifies this... more mid level information.

The frame tends to be more abrupt, I prefer the subtlety of the previous frame.

These are purely my opinions and personal ones Judy, I have no doubt that others would have differing views. So please don't make any decisions based upon my comments.
This is also a high impact and high contrast composition. ~ Regards melbob
