Austin, TX

I don't know if we're supposed to be putting anything in the
caption, but I feel compelled to in this case.

Last night, at the Elephant Room, there was a benefit concert
for Stanley Smith. That's him playing the clarinet. For some
time now, he's had kidney failure and has required weekly
dialysis.

Recently, however, he got a kidney. But as a "starving artist",
now begins the task of paying off the bill. That was the reason
for the benefit concert. The date was Stanley's birthday. The
show was great. The club was much busier than normal for a
Sunday, and everyone, including Stanley, had a great time.

After the performance was over, his photographer (not me)
walked him to his car only to discover that his car had been
broken into. I think a window was broken, and some equipment
was taken.

Anyway, here's a picture of Stanley. The lighting was not
arranged to spotlight him. It just happened to turn out that
way with the various color spotlights and random instances
of some of them having burned out.

Excellent DOF! That was my gut reaction before reading anything. As for the guitar, it just helps surround him and anchor him in place. Well done. :) ~ Lonnit

Victor, in my humble opinion it helps the photograph by providing additional depth, context and interest. I think you did well! Regards jnconradie

Thanks. Now I have a composition question for you. Do you think the guitar neck adds or detracts? -- Victor
