Apologies for tardiness in responding.. have to go bush again (more building work).. Thank you arra, Michael, Nico, Cindy, CJ and Kiki2 (Huh.. you thought I always use K2...??? lol) These guys get quite cheeky, this one kept an eye on me as it checked out his lunch. It was about 40 - 50 feet away and so the 100/400 was able to get a fairly reasonable frame, just a little cropping.
The processing used, apart from cropping and Channel/monochrome adj' , was some noise filter (Fixer Labs plugin) and a little USM. The 5D has a very small DOF under these conditions.
Michael, B&W does seem to bring up the detail as you noted.
Nice composition, Melbob. Again, the same thing strikes me as in arra's b&w bird that the textures and feather patterns are so very rich in b&w. -Michael
