* The Gift *

This was initially supposed to be coming out of darkness...but I think I like this better. About a week ago, a Russian Diva was having some problems...which I resolved fairly quickly.

She searched me out...found me at an outdoor restaurant in Hollywood and gave me this out of the blue...I was and am impressed. The candle however burned very, very quickly and so I only got about 10 set-up shots...this is the first I've cut, and I like this well enough to post.

Best Wishes, Traveller

Yes, Sam, so do I. I have a version with a much larger star burst effect...but I am going to stay with subtle here. I also particularly like the red-golden glow on the neck and arm. Thanks for noticing, (smile), Traveller

Thanks so Much, Naj, (and of course, Mary Anne...who is always on my side...lol). Originally, this was titled, even before taken and the background was suppose to be a fade to black: The Only Border that Matters, Is the one between Light & Dark....

But then, I never took that image at all.

This was going to be called, Gift of Prometheus...but heck, people know that already and besides, that title was kind of Pretentious, a distinct failing of mine...So, to tone it down, I went with the current title, The Gift.

But...I can never resist telling a story which, I admit, tended to detract or confuse what was going on here. Still, a storyteller I am...and therefore I told it even though it would be far better and cleaner without it.

More interestingly however, and a bit of a knock on myself, I was somewhat putout when she gave it to me. I went inside myself, "What is this Crap? Just what I need, another Statuette...Spit on the ground," though of course I was gracious in receiving the gift.

A couple of days later my sister is in my car and she sees the wrapping paper and ribbon..."Oh, someone gave you something?" and she just marveled at it.

Me, I was kind of dumbfounded...Okay she gave me a sculpture...so? But my sister continued to insist that it was beautiful. Hummmmmm.

Later that evening I went back out to my car....pulled away the wrapping paper...and said to myself, "Yes, yes, this is pretty cool."

This is not exactly a flattering story, but it has the virtue of being accurate.

Best Wishes, Traveller

This is awesome Traveller. The expressive pose was clearly captured to immaculate effect by the sculpter but you have managed to enhance that with the light and just about perfect depth of field. If I could work out the BBB reference from the image, rather than the implication in the text, this would be a very strong contender. That said, I'm really pleased you posted this because I love it. -Najinsky

I like it, too, Trav. You always have such interesting stories to tell.
