The Peachtree Road Race, run in Atlanta each year, boasts 55,000+ runners. It is perhaps the most popular 10K race in the world. As you stand on the sidelines you will see many strange and unusual things.

Like this runner, in full fireman's gear. Running 10K is hard enough. Adding the heavy equipment makes it ten times worse. Why would anyone take on this extra burden. The sign below the flag says, "In Memory of Capt. Jack Pitts. 5/15/51 - 4/1/07" A tribute to a fallen comrade.

I saw it as a tribute to the courage and service of firemen every where.
