Sea fog like the one you experience on the Californian coast and mountain fog like this one here in the Swiss Alps are two different faces of the same phenomenon; aren't they? Thanks for your comment, Michael! -- db.

I love fog (which is a good thing since I live on the Northern California coast). The people work well to give a sense of the sweeping scale. -Michael
